Hi there! My name is Megan, and I’m so excited to be joining the AHC team as the new Financial Manager/ Front Desk. Both the staff and all the wonderful patients we have here have made me feel so welcome. The first few months here has made for the perfect close to my 2019 year, and the end of crazy decade.

I recently moved to the Portland area from Orono, where I studied education at the University of Maine, only to fall in love with chiropractic while working as a chiropractic assistant in a practice in Orono. During my time working there, not only did I learn lots in the CA realm, but moved into a position of billing and coding, filling in a sudden need and learning so much in the process. I was also able to spearhead a new CA scribe program. While there, the doctor I worked for took me under his wing, sharing his passion for chiropractic, and ultimately becoming my mentor. I learned not only what it was like to fill the roll of CA, but how exciting and engaging a career as a chiropractor can be.

For this reason, I have also chosen to continue my education and pursue a BA.GS degree in addiction studies, studying online through SNHU while working. This is to pursue my ultimate goal of becoming a chiropractor myself! I believe that if I am to offer a drug-free alternative as a medical provider, I should have the background and understanding of why this is important, and to take part in fighting the opioid crisis our country is facing.

In addition to my cool day job, I work at the Animal Refuge League in Westbrook on my weekends as a human educator! I get to snuggle cute animals, and teach people all about critters I work with, from cats and dogs to bunnies, ferrets, rats and more! In addition to the cool pets I hang out with there, I have my own 4-legged fur ball at home- a terrier mix named Lucky (see photo below). He is 4, and makes a great older brother/mentor/friend to the foster dogs who also come and go in our home. Around all the crazy, in what free time I have, I enjoy baking, going to the gym, and curling up with a good book.

I look forward to getting to know everyone at AHC!
