Cheeseburgers, smoothies, milk, ice cream, cheese, veggie lasagna, crackers and onion bread.   Sounds like I’m back to eating regular food, huh?  Nope, that was just the list of foods that I made at my first Raw Cooking Class.  I met with Elizabeth Frasier at her studio last night (she’s also an amazing artist) and we had a private class go to over some options for raw food.  The recipes were amazing.  The burgers took just minutes to make and will definitely be a staple option in my house.  The lasagna was also a great option when having people over for dinner.

I have to admit, it’s Day 5 and this is way easier than I anticipated.  The food is great and looks amazing.  One thing that stands out to me is how colorful my meals are now.  They look like something out of a magazine.  Admittedly, my detox process wasn’t as bad as I expected.  I had a bit of a headache and some fatigue on the first day, but I took a nap in the afternoon and have felt great since.  I’m sleeping better and feel way less hungry than I used to.

Elizabeth also took me over to Whole Foods to show me some of her favorite items and things to look for while shopping with a raw mindset.  I was impressed with how inexpensive the organic options were as compared to other stores.  My goal for this week and heading into week 2 is to decrease the cost of food.  Nuts and some of the staples can add up quick, but Elizabeth gave be some great alternatives (using less expensive sunflower seeds vs. expensive cashews in recipes) that should help to decrease the cost overall.
