Are your summer plans feeling a little lackluster this year? Summer fun during a global pandemic can seem daunting or even nonexistent, but there are still ways to enjoy the warm weather!

While many amusement parks and fairs are closed or postponed this year, I’ve made it a challenge to explore lesser known areas or places close to home that I’ve just never been before. One great tool is using a site like Maine Trail Finder or for Portland residents Portland Trails to find outdoor areas near you, or just a short drive away. As always, it’s important to follow the rules of the trail, especially now staying 6 ft. apart from other people and wearing a mask. It’s also a good idea to have a back-up trail if the parking lot of the one you get to is full.  Luckily, we have such a great variety of outdoor adventures to choose from. This is Vacationland, right?

Another tip I’ve found helpful is going on trails and beach walks at less popular times. Early morning and sunset are great times to walk to beach and have a little more space. I’ve done some trail walks on rainy and overcast days and hardly saw anyone! This is also a great time for a staycation, camping or renting a place to stay in another part of the state are good options.

During stressful times, it’s important to still move our bodies. Exercise is important for both our physical and mental health. So whether you are biking your neighborhood, walking the beach or testing out a new hike make sure you pack plenty of water, a snack and a mask. Take time to stretch, keep your distance and call your Chiropractor to keep everything moving like it’s supposed to!
