Happy 2019!  The beginning of the year is such an exciting time usually involving future goals and changes.  And one of those changes may include your insurance!  I have often seen people get confused or apprehensive when changes to their insurance happen.  The best way to avoid this is to review any information you receive related to your insurance. It can be complicated and intimidating but it is important to know your coverage.  If you are confused by anything related to your insurance benefits, call your insurance company and have them explain the details to you.  Ultimately you hold the contract with your insurance and knowledge is power (and could save you $$)!

Here are a few tips to avoid unnecessary stress related to changes in insurance:

  • If you have the same provider (Anthem BCBS, HPHC, Cigna etc) but you get a new insurance card, that is often indicative of changes to your plan!
  • If you have the same provider & the same plan (HMO, PPO etc) but you get a new insurance card, that is often indicative of changes to your plan!
  • If you have a new provider but you believe you have an identical or similar plan, that is often indicative of changes to your plan!
  • If you have a new provider and new plan, you have new insurance!!!

If there are changes in your insurance as of January 1st, please let the team at AHC know.  We are happy to look into your chiropractic coverage and update you with any information we are made aware of.  We also strongly encourage you to call your insurance and go over any questions or concerns you may have about your plan.  It is the quickest way to get the most accurate information and we’d be happy to help you decipher the information that they give you!
