It’s April! Which means we are getting closer to warmer weather and spending more time outside! Despite it still being a little chilly outside, spring is officially here! (March 20th was the first day) Yay!

Whenever we hear the word “spring” the next word that usually pops up in my head is “clean”.  Spring cleaning is no small task. Sometimes it turns into a huge project that we may give up on. (Remember my new year’s resolution blog? hint hint)

However, since the weather is getting nicer it’s a perfect time to purge, clean and organize. For some people, the thought of spring cleaning just seems unpleasant or even just miserable. Ut doesn’t have to be!

You are probably thinking… why do I need to spring clean? Well spring cleaning will help remove allergens in the house making you feel better and also having a clean home makes people happier! It will also put you in a better mood because it gives you a sense of satisfaction.

Like I said before in my New Year’s resolution blog. Make a list of what needs to be cleaned in each room. For me making a list is my life. I forget to do things all the time. So I have learned to write EVERYTHING down. Writing a list is great because the feeling to check something off the list is this wonderful feeling (or it is to me).

Pump up some music! Listen to music while you are organizing and de-cluttering and stick to cleaning one room at a time. If you are cleaning the whole house it will becoming very overwhelming. I think the most important thing is to stay on track. When I am spring cleaning I will find old pictures from when I was in high school or an old year book and tend to get off track and spend an hour looking through the pictures and then become lazy and don’t feel like cleaning anymore. So with that being said if you find old photographs put them in a pile and look at them AFTER you are done with everything.

You can also set a timer to give yourself a little breaks here and there. Be realistic. If it’s getting too much, take a break. Sit on the couch and drink some water. After all, it’s not a race.

One of the biggest thing about spring cleaning is that it can help with stress (can I get a what-what)! Cleaning and organizing your space lets you enjoy a tidier and more organized environment and can help with stress. It can also be therapeutic during the act of cleaning and stress levels may be reduced.

So the moral of spring cleaning is that it will be you happier and healthier! Don’t get me wrong, cleaning is not my favorite thing in the world but it feels so good to get it done! Remember a clean room is a clear mind!
